Solar energy is available abundantly in Sultanate of Oman and it is possible to convert solar energy in to electrical energy or thermal energy. This can be utilized for various applications effectively with high safety. Electricity can be produced directly from Photovoltaic Principle (PV) or indirectly with concentrated solar power. Photovoltaic were initially, and still are, mainly used to produce power for small and medium-sized applications. There are high possibilities in Oman to use solar energy in domestic and Industrial applications by considering the availability of energy in this region. Also, it is understood that petrol, diesel and gases are non-renewable source of energy. Many Omanis have understood this truth and planning for solar based technologies to keep the other fuel resources alive.
